John “Dave” Potasz, 67, Lake Alfred, Florida, formerly of East Haven
John "Dave" Potasz, 67, of Kay St., Lake Alfred, Florida, formerly of East Haven, died July 21 at Winterhaven Hospital in Florida. He was the loving companion of Kathleen Sullivan of Florida. He was born in New Haven on Nov. 18, 1942, son of the late John and Anna Mae Brazee Potasz. He had worked as a machinist for Sanvik for many years until his retirement and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
Besides his companion, he is survived by six children, April Potasz of West Haven, Anna D'Alessio of East Haven, John D'Alessio of East Haven, Deborah Ashton and her husband Bill of East Haven, Cristy Caswell and her husband Scott of Florida, and Christopher Sullivan of Florida. He is also survived by six siblings, Patricia Hash of Rome, New York, Barbara Madelung of North Haven, Richard Potasz and his wife Cynthia of Beacon Falls, Consuella Grodske of North Branford, Alberta DeAntonio and her husband Michael of New Haven, and Warren Potasz and his wife Annette of New Haven; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his loving companion, Jane D'Alessio; a brother, George Potasz; and a sister, Rosemarie Potasz.
Funeral Services will be held at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven, on Thursday, July 29, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, July 28, from 4 to 8 p.m.
