07/19/2010 12:00 AMRonald F. Benzi, Sr., 69, of 110 North St., Guilford, died July 15 at the Connecticut Hospice, Branford. He was the loving husband of Linda Hawkins Benzi. He was born in Guilford on Dec. 17, 1940, son of the late Arthur and Mary Natowich Benzi. He was retired from the Guilford Police Department as a detective, where he had served for 25 years. He was also a past grand knight and longtime member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 3928 and he had served in the Connecticut National Guard.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two children, Ronald F. Benzi, Jr. and his wife Jean of North Branford and MaryAlice Nowak and husband Robert of Northford; his beloved uncle and aunt, Andrew and Alice Natowich of Brattleboro, Vermont; and five grandchildren, Joseph and Alexandria Benzi, and Mitchell, Kayla, and Dylan Nowak. He is also survived by three brothers, Arthur D. Benzi of Texas, John Benzi of Guilford, and William Benzi of Florida; two sisters, Betsey Heery of Madison and Florida, and Maryann Bippus of Maryland; and several aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A mass of Christian burial was held on July 19 at St. George Church, Guilford. Burial was in Alder Brook Cemetery, Guilford.
