Charles P. Monte, Jr., 90 Guilford


Charles P. Monte, Jr., 90, a longtime resident of Guilford, died after a short illness at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford on

March 18. Born in New Haven in 1920, he was the husband of 60 years to Mary V. Monte. He had been an employee at Simkins Carton Company until he retired. He was also a World War II veteran, having served in the South Pacific as a sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Force.

Besides his wife, he is survived by six children, Barbara Monte and her husband Joe of Tehachapi, California, Patricia Aronson and her husband Stanley of Killingworth, Linda Monte of Maryland, Mary Sanderlin and her husband Charles of Branford, Constance Monte and her husband John of Madison, and Robert Monte of San Francisco, California. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law Darlene Monte of North Branford; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy Ruotolo and Eleanor Ruotolo of Guilford. He was predeceased in 2007 by his son Charles Monte III.

Funeral services were held at the Guilford Funeral Home on March 23. Burial was in Alder Brook Cemetery, Guilford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Connecticut Hospice,
