Sound of Shots Leads to Temporary School Lockdown in Branford
Press Release, Branford Police Department
Dec. 11, 2024: This morning, Indian Neck School was placed under a temporary lockdown as police investigated a report of shots fired near 115 South Montowese Street.
After a thorough investigation, it was determined that the sounds were caused by duck hunters legally hunting in the marsh on the Branford River. There was no threat to the school or the surrounding community.
We commend the swift actions of the school staff and thank them for their assistance in ensuring everyone’s safety. The lockdown has been lifted, and school operations are back to normal.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Safety remains our top priority.
