Dec. 10, 2024: Just days after full time staffing of the Indian Neck fire station, crews responding on Engine 9 prevented a significant fire from becoming a major incident.
At 4:50 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8, Branford 911 received a call reporting a stove fire at the Edgewater Condominium complex located on Limewood Ave. Engine 9 arrived within two minutes of initiating their response to find a rapidly spreading fire involving the entire kitchen. In as little as 30 seconds, a small flame can become a major fire that ravages a home and threatens the lives of the people inside. According to the U.S. Fire Administration, fires kill more Americans each year than all natural disasters in the United States combined.
Thankfully, the occupants and their dog escaped without injury.
