Traffic Unit Launches Holiday Twist
The South-Central Connecticut Traffic Unit is adding a festive twist to its enforcement efforts this holiday season!
On Thursday, Dec. 12, officers from the six-member towns—North Branford, East Haven, North Haven, Branford, Guilford, and Madison—will conduct traffic stops as part of their ongoing commitment to roadway safety. However, some drivers may be surprised to receive a gift card instead of a ticket.
This unique holiday gesture is designed to spread cheer while reinforcing the importance of safe driving. By blending enforcement with positivity, the initiative highlights the South-Central Connecticut Traffic Unit's (SCCTU) dedication to fostering stronger relationships with the communities they serve.
“While our primary goal remains ensuring the safety of our roadways, we see this as an opportunity to give back to the community and show appreciation during the holiday season,” said Sergeant Joseph Mulhern, “And who knows? Santa himself might join us on patrol!”
The initiative is made possible through the generous financial support of the member police unions, showcasing the collaborative effort to make this season brighter and safer for everyone. Over the past year, the SCCTU has conducted thousands of motor vehicle stops, leading to enhanced roadway safety and significant criminal apprehensions, including suspects with active warrants and stolen vehicle recoveries.
