Westbrook Election Results
On Election Day, Nov. 5, Westbrook voters made their voices heard in the Presidential Election and some key local races.
Unofficial final results from the Secretary of State’s website show that in the big ticket presidential election, Westbrook voters favored Democrat Kamala Harris over Republican Donald Trump by a 2,178 to 2,006 margin. Harris won Connecticut overall, but Trump won the national election.
Several minor party candidates also received votes. Thirteen people voted for Green Party candidate Jill Stein, while Libertarian Party candidate Chase Oliver received 13 votes. Petitioning candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. candidate got 22 votes.
Democratic incumbent Chris Murphy earned 2,127 votes to be the United States Senator, while Republican Matthew Corey got 1,852 votes. Murphy got 93 votes on the Working Families Party line as well.
Green Party candidate Justin Paglino got 25 votes, while Robert Hyde of the Cheaper Gas and Groceries party got 36 votes.
Westbrook voters chose Democrat Joe Courtney to be the Connecticut Representative in Congress with 2,258 votes compared to 1,859 votes for Republican Mike France.
Westbrook voters also favored Democratic incumbent Norm Needleman to be the State Senator of the 33rd District. Needleman received 2,160 votes on the Democratic line as well as 84 on the Independent Party line. Republican Jeffery Duigou received 1,858 votes. Needleman won his race district-wide.
Two local races ended favorably for Republicans in Westbrook. Republican Devin Carney won his reelection bid to be the representative for District 23 with 977 total votes between the Republican and Independent party lines. Democrat Jane Wisialowksi got 827 votes between the Democrat and Working Families party lines. Carney won his race district-wide.
Another race that went in Republicans' favor was the race to be the District 35 representative. Republican incumbent Chris Aniskovich won 1,262 votes between the Republican and Independent Party lines, while Democratic challenger Cinzia Lettieri won 1,122 between the Democratic and Working Families lines. Aniskovich won district-wide.
Voters also elected James Crawford as the Democratic Registrar of Voters, while Megan Ruppenicker was elected to the same position for Republicans. Both ran unopposed and would have won their seats regardless of vote totals.
Westbrook bucked the state trend when it came to ballot questions, asking if the state constitution should be amended to allow for every voter to vote by absentee ballot. 1,822 Westbrook residents voted no, and 1,729 voted yes. However, the question did pass statewide.
In total, 4,247 voters cast their vote in the election, a turnout of about 83.47%. That’s a decrease of 119 voters from the 2020 election, which had a turnout of about 87%, per the Secretary of State’s website.
