Old Saybrook Election Returns


In the 2024 election, Old Saybrook voters favored Democrat Kamala Harris for President by a count of 4,150 to 2,921. Voters also helped determine some important local races.

While Old Saybrook and Connecticut voters overall preferred Harris, Trump won the national election. Besides Harris and Trump, the presidential ballot also had Libertarian Party candidate Chase Oliver, who received 30 votes; Green Party Presidential candidate Jill Stein got 17 votes; and petitioning candidate Robert Kennedy got 28.

For representative in Congress, Clinton voters chose Democratic incumbent Joe Courtney with 4,288 total votes over Republican candidate Mike France, who got 2,7s0 votes.

For United States Senator, voters chose Democratic incumbent Chris Murphy by a margin of 4,128 total votes to 2,837 over Republican Matthew Corey. Green Party candidate Justin Paglino got 31 votes, while Cheaper Gas and Groceries Party candidate Robbery Hyde got 37 votes.

Besides the national races, a couple of important local races that could have large consequences locally were also on the ballot.

In the 20th District State Senate race between Democrat Martha Marx and Republican Shaun Mastroianni Marx received 1,583 total votes compared to 1,396 for Mastroianni.

In the 33rd State Senate race, Democrat Norm Needleman and Republican Jeffery Duigou voters favored Needleman by a vote of 2,408 total votes compared to 1,566 for Duigou.

In the 23rd District state representative race, voters chose Republican incumbent Devin Carney by a margin of 3,633 total votes compared to 3,321 total votes for Democrat Jane Wisialowski.

The last race on the ballot was for Patricia Prendergast to be the Democratic Registrar of Voters. She ran unopposed.

This year, Old Saybrook saw a turnout of around 7,291 votes, representing about an 82% voter turnout. In 2020, the town saw a turnout of 7,464 voters, representing a turnout of about 81%.
