11/11/2024 10:02 AMVoters from Connecticut’s 35th General Assembly District have reelected Republican Chris Aniskovich to be their representative over Democrat Cinzia Lettieri. Following the election, both candidates spoke to the Harbor News about what’s next.
The 35th district is comprised of Clinton, Killingworth, and part of Westbrook. According to the unofficial tallies reported in all three towns, Aniskovich received 7,141 total votes (50.8%), while Lettieri received 6,914 (49.2%).
For the past two years, the district had been represented by Aniskovich. He is a member of the Clinton Town Council, a position he’s held since being elected in 2019. Besides the Town Council, Aniskovich has served on the Planning and Zoning Commission and Board of Assessment Appeals in Clinton. Aniskovich will continue to serve on the Town Council in addition to his representative duties.
“Presidential elections bring out more people, so you’re never sure how that’s going to play out on the ballot, but I worked extremely hard on the campaign, and I was confident people know that I’m a moderate who will work with both sides to do what’s best for the people in the district regardless of politics,” Aniskovich said.
While campaigning for election, Aniskovich mentioned affordability, local control for zoning, and mental health as issues he would like to work on in his next term.
Reflecting on the results, Lettieri said that while she was saddened by the results, she was proud of the campaign.
“I’m thankful to my supporters, volunteers, and voters for their hard work. We ran a good campaign, and it was a close race,” said Lettieri.
Lettieri also encouraged her supporters to continue advocating for their beliefs.
“I hope everyone keeps advocating for the things we were fighting for, like women’s health care, like education, like infrastructure, over the next two years, and I will be doing the same. This is just the beginning,” Lettieri said.

Both candidates were Clinton residents, so it was no surprise that they both received their highest vote totals in Clinton. Aniskovich won 3,738 votes compared to 3,646 votes for Lettieri.
Lettieri won Killingworth by a one-vote margin of 2,142 votes compared to 2,241 for Aniskovich.
