North Branford Voting Results
North Branford recorded a turnout of 87.64% among its 10,080 registered voters in the Nov. 5 presidential and state elections, according to Town Clerk Lisa Valenti.
Based on numbers posted by the Connecticut Secretary of State’s office, running unopposed, Connecticut Republican House Minority Leader Vincent Candelora was well-supported among those of all political parties his North Branford home town, with 6,327 votes. He’ll return to Hartford for his tenth consecutive term representing the 86th District. The district serves residents of North Branford, Durham, East Haven, and Guilford.
In the race for State Senate District 34, which represents a small section of North Branford as well as North Haven, incumbent Republican Paul Cicarella was reelected. In North Branford, Cicarella earned a total of 1030 votes, roughly 64%. Democratic challenger Brandi Mandato earned 572 votes in North Branford, about 35%.
While incumbent Democrat Christine Cohen won the overall vote among towns she represents for State Senate District 12 (which also serves the towns of Branford, Guilford, Durham, Killingworth, and Madison), she did not receive the majority of votes in North Branford. Cohen received a total of 2,685 votes in North Branford, about 42%. Her challenger, Republican Paul Crisci, earned 3,797 votes, over 58%, in North Branford.
U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D, District 5) won his bid for reelection district-wide, but did not receive the majority of North Branford voters’ support. In North Branford, 3,578 votes, about 44%, were cast for Murphy. By comparison, Republican challenger, Matthew M. Corey earned nearly 55% of North Branford’s votes, with a total of 4,500.
U.S. Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D, District 3) also won her bid for reelection district-wide, but did not receive the majority of voter support at the polls in North Branford. DeLauro earned 3,475 votes, about 43%, in North Branford; while Republican candidate Michael Massey garnered roughly 58% at the polls in North Branford, with 4,708 total votes.
In the 2024 US presidential race, just over 58% of North Branford voters pulled for Republican president-elect Donald J. Trump on the Trump-Vance ticket, with a total of 4,921 votes. Nearly 41% of North Branford’s voters supported Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, on the Harris-Walz ticket, with 3,452 votes.
