11/07/2024 10:33 AMFollowing some delays due to issues with tabulators, unofficial results for Branford’s Nov. 5 presidential and state elections have been reported from the town’s seven polling precincts to the Connecticut Secretary of State’s Office, with 100% of precincts reporting.
Among the presidential candidates on the ticket, the majority of Branford’s voters, nearly 57%, supported Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, on the Harris-Walz ticket, with 9,918 votes. Just over 42% of Branford voters pulled for Republican Donald J. Trump, the race’s president-elect; on the Trump-Vance ticket, with a total of 7,250 votes.
In Branford’s 102 State Representative race, Democratic incumbent Robin Comey received 7,265 total votes across the Democratic and Working Families Party lines, or nearly 54%. Republican challenger Ray Ingraham received 6,259 votes, or just over 46%.
In the State Representative race for the 98th District, which represents a portion of Branford and Guilford, incumbent Democrat Moira Rader won reelection. She received 1,942 votes in Branford on the Democratic and Working Families Party lines, nearly 57% over the vote. Republican challenger Richard DiNardo received 1,468 Branford votes, or 43%.
Incumbent Democrat Christine Cohen won the overall vote among towns she represents for State Senate District 12 (which also serves the towns of North Branford, Guilford, Durham, Killingworth, and Madison) and received the majority of votes in Branford. Appearing on the Democrat, Working Families Party, and Independent lines, Cohen received a total of 9,665 votes in Branford, about 57%. Her challenger, Republican Paul Crisci, earned 7,379 votes, over 43%, in Branford.
U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D, District 5) won his bid for reelection district-wide and received the majority of Branford voters’ support. In Branford, 10,133 votes, about 60%, were cast for Murphy on the Democrat and Working Families Party lines. Republican challenger, Matthew M. Corey earned just over 39% of Branford’s votes, with a total of 6,672.
U.S. Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (D, District 3) also won her bid for reelection district-wide and received the majority of voter support at the polls in Branford. DeLauro earned 9,846 votes, about 58%, in Branford; while Republican and Independent Party candidate Michael Massey garnered roughly 42% at the polls in Branford, with 7,213 total votes.
