Early Voting Starts Oct. 21

Early voting in Connecticut will start 14 days ahead of Election Day. In Old Saybrook, Clinton, and Westbrook, voters can vote at each town hall Monday, Oct. 21, through Sunday, Nov. 3. The Harbor News has a rundown on what to expect in all three towns.

When:

Early voting takes place from Oct. 21 through Nov. 3. Early voting will be available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29, and Thursday, Oct. 31. Early voting is available for all Connecticut voters.

What Happens:

Per guidelines from the state, “When you arrive at the Early Voting location, you will check in and be verified as an eligible voter. You will then receive your ballot with an envelope. You will complete your ballot at a privacy booth and seal it in the approved envelope. Before you leave, place the sealed envelope in the secure receptacle as instructed by the election officials. “The votes will be kept secure and not be counted until Election Day.

In Old Saybrook, early voting will take place at the first floor conference room in Town Hall at 302 Main Street.

In Clinton, early voting will take place at Town Hall at 54 East Main Street.

In Westbrook, early voting will take place in the lower level of Westbrook’s town hall located at 866 Boston Post Road.

Early voting is certainly not the only way to vote, however. Absentee ballots for the election are available now. Those who qualify for an absentee ballot can contact their town clerk for the ballot. Absentee ballots must be turned in by 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5. Absentee ballots can be returned by mail, brought to the Town Clerk’s Office at each town hall, or dropped in the drop box location at each municipality’s town hall.

People can still vote in person on Nov. 5. Each town’s voting locations will open at 6 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. Voters can check their registration status and polling location at https://portaldir.ct.gov/sots/LookUp.aspx.
