North Branford Wishes Angeloni a Happy 100th Birthday
Press Release, Town of North Branford
North Branford is extending a Happy 100th birthday to Millie Angeloni, as she celebrated with her family and loved ones at a special event Oct. 6.
Born on October 4, 1924, in Graniti, Sicily, to Salvatore and Rosaria Calabro, she came to the U.S. in 1948 with her brother Joseph to join their father, with their mother joining at a later date. She spent three days at Ellis Island with her brother waiting for clearance to enter the country.
She married Daniel Angeloni in 1950 and is the mother of Frank and John; grandmother to Elliot, Sara and Michael; great grandmother (Gigi) to Lina, Emmie, Reese, Ryder, Vivianne, Riley, Van, and Bronson.
Angeloni provided for her family by working at Rose’s Dress Shop with her mother. She later went on to work at Remington Arms and General Electric. During this time, her father and brother were busy establishing the family business, Calabro Cheese Corporation. She worked at Calabro Cheese until her retirement at age 88.
Angeloni’s true love was cooking and taking care of her family. She could always be found in her in the kitchen at family gatherings and later teaching her daughter-in-law, North Branford Mayor Rose Angeloni, how to cook the delicious Italian dishes her family loved.
Angeloni treasured her time watching her grandchildren and even traveled to Virginia to help her niece with her children. Angeloni traveled back to her childhood home in Sicily with her mother and brother in 1985 and her final visit was 2010 with her grandson Michael. Graniti will always hold a special place in her heart.
