Third Year in a Row for Registration Sell-Out

Press Release, JB Sports

The annual Branford Thanksgiving 5K & Kids Run is scheduled for Thanksgiving morning [Thurs. Nov. 28] and is expected to sell out for the third consecutive year! This year’s race is limited to 1,500 registrants. The event supports the Rotary Club of Branford and the Soundview Family YMCA in their efforts to provide food to those in need during the holiday season.

The 5K, beginning and ending at Walsh Intermediate School (WIS), 185 Damascus Road, features a flat and fast course traveling through Branford’s scenic Route 146 and Pine Orchard Golf Course. The race includes a pre- and post-race party where runners can enjoy kids' activities, music, and more before their Thanksgiving Day meal.

The event offers a discounted student rate for children under 18 years of age and provides commemorative technical running shirts. Early packet pick-up will be available at Marathon Sports in Branford on Tues. Nov. 26 (2 to 6 p.m.) and Wed. Nov. 27 (10 a.m to 5 p.m). On-site registration (if available) and race-day packet pick-up will be held in the spacious gym at WIS starting at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday morning. The Kids Race kicks off at 9 a.m. with the 5K following at 9:10 a.m.

The Branford Rotary Club is a group of professionals and community leaders who volunteer their time and effort to improve life in Branford, across the shoreline, and around the world. Proceeds from this event support Branford Rotary’s annual Nelson Bernabucci Veteran’s Luncheon, Senior Holiday Dinner, the Branford Food Pantry, Orchard House Adult Medical Day Center, and Branford Counseling and Community Services.

The Soundview Family YMCA is a charitable, not-for-profit community organization that welcomes everyone. The Y is more than a building—it’s the people who come together to improve their lives, nurture their families, and help their neighbors. Together, we make everyone feel like they belong. We care about your wellness journey and offer a range of programs and classes to help you stay healthy and connected to your community.
