North Branford’s Happy Birthday Wishes to Evelyn Suprenant, 105
Press Release, Town of North Branford
North Branford Mayor Rose Angeloni presented a citation from the North Branford Town Council congratulating resident Evelyn Surprenant, who celebrated her 105th birthday on September 19.
Born on September 19, 1919, Surprenant is a life-long North Branford resident. She married Emerson Surprenant in 1941, and they have four children. She worked for A.C. Gilbert during World War II while her husband served in the war. Suprenant also worked at McKesson and Robbins and North Branford Public Schools. Her hobbies include riding motorcycles, swimming, gardening, sewing, quilting, baking. At the age of 104, Surprenant took a ride on a motorcycle and swam in Long Island Sound.
The name Surprenant means “surprise,” and Surprenant is just as surprised as everyone else that she continues to enjoy life. She says her secret to long life is to “...just be kind to everyone and love your family,” which is evident in the weekly Sunday dinner ritual she enjoys with her family; where she maintains her place at the head of the table.
The Town of North Branford citation wishing Surprenant a happy birthday was presented on behalf of the Town Council, which is composed of Mayor Angeloni, Deputy Mayor Jeffrey Macmillen, Bruce Abelson, Marie Diamond, Walter Goad, Craig C. Miller, Nicholas Palladino, Ron Pellicci, and Thomas Zampano.
