Purse-Snatching Suspects in Stolen Vehicle Sought by Branford, East Haven Police
Branford and East Haven police are seeking public assistance following an incident in which suspects driving a stolen vehicle engaged police in a pursuit which had to be broken off due to dangerously high speeds on I-95.
According to information shared by Branford Police Department at its Facebook page on Friday, Sept. 20, East Haven and Branford police attempted to stop a stolen vehicle involved in a purse snatching incident at Stop & Shop in East Haven, 370 Hemingway Avenue. Prior to police pursuit, the suspect vehicle struck another vehicle on West Main Street in Branford, then fled the scene of the accident.
Police located the stolen vehicle in Branford on West Main Street near Commercial Parkway, at which point the vehicle fled from officers, leading to a pursuit southbound on I-95 from Exit 53.
“Unfortunately, during the pursuit, the suspect vehicle was driving at dangerously high speeds, forcing officers to terminate the chase to prioritize public safety,” Branford Police stated. “We are actively investigating this incident and will continue to work with neighboring departments to bring those responsible to justice.”
