Reckless Driver Arrested following Branford Police Pursuit and Footchase

On September 9 around 1:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to 115 South Montowese Street for a domestic dispute involving a male allegedly trying to run down a female in the rear parking lot.
Officers arrived within moments of the call and attempted to stop the driver (later identified as Jonathan Vega, 25, of New Haven), who was recklessly fleeing at a high rate of speed in his vehicle.
During this investigation, Vega almost hit two police cruisers and engaged officers in pursuit. He was apprehended after a brief foot chase in the area of 61 Damascus Road. The female was located by additional Branford officers and determined to be uninjured.
Vega was charged with violating CGS 53a-181, Breach of Peace (2 Counts), CGS 53a-167a, Interfering with an Officer, CGS 53a-64, Reckless Endangerment 2nd (2 Counts), CGS 223(b)** Engaging Police in Pursuit, CGS 14-222, Reckless Driving, CGS 14-147(c), Misuse of Plates, and CGS 14-12(a), Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle.
Vega was held on a $50,000 bond and was transported to New Haven Court the morning of Sept. 10 for arraignment.
