Daytime Gardeners of North Haven Hosting Presentation on Broadleaf Evergreens
Press Release from Sally Brockett
Do you have broadleaf evergreens such as rhododendrons, azaleas, magnolias, and holly trees that you want to prune and care for, but are unsure about their proper care? Do you want to add some broadleaf evergreens to enhance your property, but wonder which ones would be the best for your environment? The Daytime Gardeners of North Haven’s September presentation by Felicia Millett will help you learn more about these important trees and shrubs.
Felicia Millett is a plant diagnostician in the Department of Plant Pathology and Ecology at the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station. Broadleaf evergreens make an important contribution to the landscape when provided with proper maintenance. This presentation will cover several selections that do well in Connecticut, their use in the landscape, and site considerations before planting, as well as proper care and maintenance for successful establishment. You can learn how to select and care for the best of these trees and shrubs, so they will give many years of enjoyment, by attending this meeting.
The program will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 24 from 11 a.m. until noon at the North Haven Recreational Center at 7 Linsley Street. Guests are welcome. A $5 guest donation is appreciated. Please call the Daytime Gardeners at 203-239-1557 to register for the meeting.
