At its regular meeting Aug. 20, the North Branford Town Council received the votes cast during the North Branford Potato and Corn Festival to choose a new flag for the town of North Branford.

The choices were between three flags selected from various designs by the council. The winning flag was Flag 1 with the town emblem featuring a purple background. The vote tally was: Flag 1 (purple background) 322 votes; Flag 2 (blue background) 70 votes; Flag 3 (red/white/blue background) 71 votes.

On Aug. 20, the Town Council voted unanimously (6-0 with 3 absences) in favor of approving the selected flag as the new flag for the town of North Branford.

The new town flag will soon be seen flying at town buildings and facilities. A 3'x5' version will be made available to the public for purchase shortly for display at homes and businesses.
