On Aug. 10 at approximately 10:15 p.m., the Clinton Police Department (CPD) and emergency personnel were dispatched to the area of the Clinton Shoreline East Train Station for a report of a train having struck a pedestrian. The initial investigation revealed that a female had been fatally struck by a train while she was on the tracks. As of Aug. 15, the circumstances surrounding the tragedy remained unknown.
Due to the incident having occurred on Amtrak property, the Amtrak Police Department has been assigned as the primary investigating agency. The CPD stated that all inquiries related to this incident should be directed to Amtrak Police.
