Press Release from Town of Guilford

Guilford First Selectman Matt Hoey has announced that Guilford Youth and Family Services Director Lyne Landry has been named as a recipient of the Guilford Employee Recognition Award.

Hoey, who initiated this program, has encouraged all employees to nominate fellow employees to be recognized for outstanding achievement and performance in their work.

The Employee Recognition Awards Committee selected Landry, who was nominated by Fire Captain Clint Haverkampf.

Haverkampf nominated Landry for her role in the town’s receipt of funds through the office of U.S. Representative Rosa DeLauro to upgrade Guilford’s public safety radio communication system. Haverkampf described how Landry used grants.gov, which he said the police and fire departments don’t typically use, on her way to helping Guilford upgrade its system and, ultimately, obtaining her award.

“The system is cumbersome at best, and there was confusion as to who had access, who could grant access, and who had approval authority, etc.,” Haverkampf said. “Lyne turned out to be the authorizing person due to her grant-funded positions at Youth and Family Services. She spent a lot of time on the phone with the help desk and traded several emails and phone calls with me to ensure our project didn't fail. And this was all while attending to her regular duties. She was always positive and genuinely wanted to help, even though her own department had nothing really to gain by her efforts.”

“Lyne was always professional and positive while going out of her way to make sure the grant was successful,” Haverkampf continued. “Collaboration between departments is an essential piece of town government. Lyne exemplifies professionalism, performance, leadership and, positivity and, therefore, deserves an Employee Recognition Award.”

Landry has been with the Town of Guilford since 2007. She received an Employee Recognition Award certificate, as well as a gift card and a Ninja blender from First Selectman Hoey in recognition of her achievements. Landry is the first person to have received such an award twice, as she received similar honor in July 2021.
