07/30/2024 10:04 AMSealy-Dan, a rehabilitated gray seal, begins to enter the water at Hammonasset Beach State Park on July 25 as many of the over 700 spectators watch in the distance. Mystic Aquarium released four young gray seals in the early morning hours after months of rehabilitation from injuries. The seals, Sealy-Dan, Cavatelli, Orecchiette, and Tortellini, all received acoustic tags, which can track their movements. Sealy-Dan and Orecchiette recovered from infected wounds; Cavatelli was found with lacerations, while Tortellini was found near Block Island tangled in fishing line.
