Connecticut River Museum Announces New Access Program for Low-Income Families Through Museums for All

Press Release from Connecticut River Museum

The Connecticut River Museum announced that it has joined Museums for All—a signature access program of the Institute of Museum and Library Services, administered by the Association of Children’s Museums—to encourage people of all backgrounds to visit museums regularly and build lifelong museum-going habits.

The program supports those receiving food assistance benefits via the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) visiting the Connecticut River Museum for a minimal fee of $3 for adults up to four people (kids are free) when they present their SNAP Electronic Benefits Transfer card.

Similar free and reduced admission is available to eligible members of the public at more than 850 museums across the country, including several in Connecticut.

“We are thrilled to join Museums for All and want everyone to experience the joy and wonder of visiting places like the Connecticut River Museum,” said Elizabeth Kaeser, executive director of the Connecticut River Museum. “This program will help ensure that all people have access to important cultural experiences and build lifelong museum-going habits.”

Museums for All reflects the Connecticut River Museum’s mission to deepen the appreciation of the river’s history and to inspire its stewardship by providing unique educational and recreational experiences to diverse audiences. The program helps expand access to museums and raise public awareness about how museums in the United States are reaching their entire communities. More than 850 institutions participate in the initiative, including art museums, children’s museums, science centers, botanical gardens, zoos, history museums, and more. Participating museums are located nationwide, representing all 50 states, Washington D.C., and U.S. Virgin Islands.
