Dump Truck Carrying Hot Asphalt in Rollover Crash with Compact Car North Branford


Minor Injuries, Dump Truck Driver Charged with Failure to Obey Traffic Signal

July 24, 2024: At 9:02 a.m., North Branford Dispatch Center received multiple 911 calls regarding a motor vehicle collision involving a dump truck versus car.

North Branford fire and police units were dispatched to the intersection of Foxon Road and Totoket Road. Upon their arrival, it was determined the dump truck was overturned resting partially on a smaller compact car. The dump truck was transporting hot asphalt that spilled onto the road way. Two occupants in the car were treated on the scene and transported to Yale New Haven Hospital for minor injuries.

The operator of the dump truck was not injured. Connecticut State Police Truck Squad responded and assisted with the investigation.

Based on the investigation the operator of the dump truck was charged with Failure to Obey a Traffic control signal. Foxon Road was closed for approximately 1 and half hours for the investigation and clean up.
