The Branford Community Foundation (BCF) is pleased to announce the distribution of the 2023 Impact Report, a reflection and documentation of the progress and impact of the work of the Foundation over the past year. In the 2023 Impact Report, BCF also spotlights the invaluable work of their nonprofit partners who enrich and support the Branford community.

In 2023, BCF witnessed remarkable generosity and saw the most donors ever supporting the BCF operating and annual appeals (excluding the 2020 COVID-19 Fund initiative). The endowment stands strong at just over $3 million, allowing the Foundation to invest nearly $175,000 in 2023 into Branford through grants, scholarships, and sponsorship awards in partnership with GSB. This puts overall investment into the community since 2013 at over $1.5 million.
In addition to traditional grantmaking, BCF was also entrusted by the Town of Branford to make recommendations for $395,000 in federal funding from the American Rescue Plan Act. The RTM accepted the recommendations for awards ranging from $2,000 to $50,000, to 25 local nonprofits to aid in their recovery from COVID-19's impacts. The historic ARPA funding strengthened the Foundation’s connections with charitable partners, fostering deeper collaborations and initiating site visits to those hard-working grantees.
“Thanks to our generous community, 2023 was a year of incredible growth and impact,” said Executive Director Liza Janssen Petra. “We are honored to steward these resources to ensure the wellbeing of our wonderful Branford community and all who live, work and play here.”
Looking ahead, BCF is excited to build on the growth of the past year and to continue to build relationships with donors, nonprofits, the Town of Branford, and the larger community. The Foundation extends their sincerest thanks to the community for their unwavering support.
BCF is committed to building a brighter future for generations together, and that is only possible through the generosity of Branford and beyond.
