Polls Open for Primary Voting Aug. 5

While registered voters will head to the polls on Nov. 5 to cast ballots in the presidential election, registered Republicans still have a choice to make. A Republican primary to determine the candidate for the U.S. Senate race is set for August.

The Republican Primary is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 13, with Matt Corey and Geri Smith both vying to become the Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate. The winner will face incumbent Democratic U.S. Senator Chris Murphy in the Nov. 5 presidential election.

New for 2024, voters will be able to cast early ballots. The polls will be open on Monday, Aug. 5, Wednesday, Aug. 7, Friday, Aug. 9, and Sunday, Aug. 11 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Tuesday, Aug. 6 and Thursday, Aug. 8 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

To participate in early voting for the primary, unaffiliated voters must be registered with the Republican party by noon on Friday, Aug. 2. Unregistered voters may register in person to vote in the Aug. 13 primary by Monday, Aug. 12 at noon.

In Madison, voters should cast their ballots at Town Hall, 8 Campus Drive, Meeting Room A. Killingworth voters will cast their votes at Town Hall, 323 Route 81, Killingworth.
