North Branford Opens Cooling Stations July 8 - July 10

The State of Connecticut has activated its Extreme Hot Weather Protocol with oppressive temperatures and humidity expected starting Monday, July 8, through Wednesday, July 10. Temperatures will rise well into the 90s over the next several days.

In consideration of the activation of the Protocol and to ensure vulnerable residents have protection available, the Town of North Branford will be opening cooling stations for any residents in need beginning at 3:00 pm Monday, July 8, through Wednesday, July 10, at the following locations:

North Branford Town Hall – 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Mon. -Wed. 909 Foxon Road, North Branford

Atwater Memorial Library – 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Mon. – Wed. 1720 Foxon Road, North Branford

The main entrance at the library location will remain until 8:00 p.m. Those needing cooling shelter will be able to access the main entrance, community room, and bathroom at any point during the day. The Town Hall will be open for shelter only between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.

Residents can also dial 2-1-1 or visit 211ct.org to find additional sheltering locations near them.
