Press Release from First Position Media

Juliana Pisanzio and Nino Pisanzio, owners of La Marea Ristorante in Old Saybrook, were honored with the Servant Leader Award at the Hospital for Special Care Donor Appreciation and 26th Annual Meeting. This year's event, which took place at the Bristol Event Center in Bristol, hosted about 320 guest attendees.

“Our Servant Leader Awards recognize those individuals who place community above the personal. Servant leadership reflects a commitment to the greater good, represents our values and our aspirations,” said Lynn Ricci, CEO at the Hospital for Special Care. “Nino and Juliana extend their love of food to the love of people and community. They support countless causes and are always there to spread kindness and compassion in the community. They have hosted numerous dinners to support local families and recently held a very successful tribute and fundraiser to support our hospital’s autism program.”

Juliana and Nino Pisanzio are two individuals who are passionate about food, as well as dedicated to serving authentic Italian cuisine to their community. Their upbringings, centered around food and family, are evident in the heart and inspiration behind La Marea and what it means to the community.

Juliana expressed their shared gratitude about receiving this distinction.

“We are truly honored and proud to receive the Servant Leader Award,” Juliana said. “We really love what we do, and one of the reasons we opened a restaurant was not only to share our love of food, family, and culture, but to also be an active member of our community. We have always sought out ways to give back to our customers, community, and the causes that are dearest to our hearts."
