For nearly 50 years, nonprofit Homemaker’s has been raising funds through annual sales revenues to give back to Branford.
“We’re grateful to all our volunteers, our customers, our consigners, and the whole community," said Homemaker board president Pat Mansfield. “They all work together to make us profitable so that we can support Branford organizations.”
In addition to the shop’s hardworking and friendly volunteers, shoppers may be seeking bargains due to the high cost of living, while the refreshed Brushy Hill Plaza may also be a draw contributing to the steady increase in annual revenues which began last year, said Mansfield.
Recently, Mansfield and board members distributed donation checks to support six Branford organizations including Branford Fuel Assistance, Community Dining Room, Branford Counseling & Community Services, Orchard House Medical Adult Day Center, Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter, and Branford Medical Transportation.
Organized in 1976, non-profit Homemaker Thrift Shop raises funds by taking in contributions of items for resale through the store, located at 4 Brushy Plain Road. Each year, all thrift shop sale proceeds benefit local Branford charitable causes.
Homemaker volunteers donate their time to help stock inventory contributed by community members and others. Many of the volunteers have been with Homemaker's for numerous years. Find more information @HomemakerThriftShop on Facebook
