In June, the Westbrook Foundation awarded scholarships totaling $165,000 to the town’s graduating high school seniors to support their post-secondary educational pursuits. The foundation also awarded scholarships to Westbrook residents currently enrolled in college and graduate programs, as well as scholarships for the Westbrook Education Association.
“We are honored and humbled to be able to support 35 members of this year’s graduating class at Westbrook High School as they embark on the next chapter of their lives, as well as to support 10 young adults who are continuing their post-secondary educational pursuits,” said Westbrook Foundation Scholarship Committee Chair Joan Angelini. “Congratulations to all of the recipients!”
Cadance Acabbo received the Brandon E. Norman Scholarship, the Dan Nuhn Memorial Scholarship, Lew Daniels Scholarship, and the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Special Award. Krista Blackey received the Calderari-Hoxsie-Schubert-Steinson Veteran’s Memorial Scholarship, the Krysta Brielle Morant Memorial Scholarship, and the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Special Award; Emma Bransfield received the Eileen M. Daily Scholarship, the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Spirit of Westbrook Award, and the Westbrook Education Association Scholarship; and Connor Brigham received the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Special Award.
Tyler Casula was presented with the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Special Award. Nayra Nicole DaCosta received the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Special Award; Abby Demers received the Henry Ortner, Jr. Memorial Scholarship, the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Spirit of Westbrook Award, and the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Special Award; and Emily Downie received the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Good Citizen Award and the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Special Award.
Jack Ford received the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Special Award. Jamison Freis received the Ellen S. Murphy Scholarship and the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Special Award, Hannah Freund received the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Special Award, and John Freund received the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Special Award.
Emily Gomez-Salguero was presented with the Herbert A. Muller, Jr. Memorial Scholarship and the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Special Award. Norah Hayden received the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Special Award; John Dias Heringer received the Manstan-Nolf Memorial Technology Education Scholarship, the Elliot A. Spencer Memorial Scholarship, and the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Special Award; Christopher Howe received the Patricia Mazeau and Myrtie Gareau Scholarship and the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Special Award; and Trevor Jones received the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Academic Achievement Award and the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Special Award.
Elliot Koplas received the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Leadership Award, the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Special Award, and the Westbrook Education Association – Peter M. D’Errico Award. Cooper Medeiros received the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Special Award, Catalina Martinez Mora received the Henry Ortner, Jr. Memorial Scholarship and the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Special Award, Derick Novillo received the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Spirit of Westbrook Award and the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Special Award, and Dayhana Ochoa received the Nicholas P. Tragakes Scholarship and the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Special Award.
Emma Palawsky was presented with the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Special Award. Olivia Palumbo received the Dorothy Christopher Hoyt Scholarship and the Raymond L. Wilson Scholarship, Dev Patel received the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Special Award, Douglas Perrone-Gray received the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Special Award, Leticia Pires received the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Academic Achievement Award and the Westbrook Education Association – Daisy Ingraham Memorial Scholarship, Riley Pluck received the Lawrence L. Lariviere Entrepreneurial Scholarship and the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Special Award, and Kayla Prisley received the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Special Award.
Piper Selmont received the Marie Mazeau Scholarship and the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Special Award. Carlos Solis received the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Special Award, Sonora St. Onge received the Shoreline Amateur Radio Scholarship and the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Special Award, Gabrielle Walker received the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Special Award, Trinity Walton received the Westbrook Grange #123 Scholarship and the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Special Award, and Muhammad Zaheer received the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Academic Achievement Award and the Barbara Spencer Memorial Scholarship Special Award.
The following Westbrook residents received Messerschmidt Awards to support their new and ongoing post-secondary educational pursuits: Daniel Genovese, James Grace, Margaret Izzo, Taylor McCain, Lavinnia Nazareth, Jami Sacco, Giovanna Santos, Gabriela Spash, Adriana Stranieri, and Michael Valiante.
