The Valley Regional High School (VRHS) Trades Award Fund at the Community Foundation of Middlesex County (CFMC) is pleased to announce that the 2024 scholarship recipient is Samantha Viles of Chester.
The award was established by the VRHS Class of 1982—including Beth Clark, Valerie Wyzykowski, John Saunders, Michelle Porter, and Tim Marshall—to encourage careers in the trades and to celebrate the value of such work.
The award is presented to VRHS graduating seniors in good academic standing who are pursuing employment in the trades or entrepreneurship. The students must also have demonstrated a commitment to positive community involvement and service for the benefit of others.
Viles was easily selected for this distinction not only because of her dedication to the field of manufacturing, but also for her tremendous work ethic in and out of the classroom. In addition to her academic efforts and her participation in the VRHS Warriors in the Community program, Viles is currently a member of and a volunteer at the Chester Hose Company. She is also employed after school and on weekends and has maintained her grades.
The VRHS Trades Award Fund Committee applauds and congratulates Viles and wishes her much success in the future. The CFMC applauds and thanks the Fund Committee for paying it forward and ensuring a brighter future for our young people.
