Daytime Gardeners of North Haven Offer Snapdragon Planting at Library
Press Release from Sally Brockett
The Daytime Gardeners of North Haven participated in the North Haven Library Summer Reading Carnival, offering the opportunity for children to plant a snapdragon to take home. Children were encouraged to transplant their snapdragon from the cup to their gardens at home and then watch it grow and bloom. The snapdragons were not yet in blossom, so the children will have the fun of watching it form a bud and then seeing the bud open into a beautiful flower. They were given some directions about plant care, including the need to water it and to plant this flower in the sun.
Guests visiting the event had the opportunity to talk with the club members and ask questions about the plants and vegetation on their properties. Many community members are very interested in environmentally correct plant care, the importance of planting native species, and removing invasive plants. They enjoyed taking time to chat with the gardeners.
The Daytime Gardeners welcome new members and encourage guests to attend the programs offered throughout the year. If you are interested in more details about the club, please contact Daytime Gardeners at proto.mary@yahoo.com.
