06/14/2024 05:12 PMPress Release from Cindy Golia
On June 1, North Haven Garden Club Junior Gardeners Committee members Cindy Golia, Dianna Ramedei, Noreen Adley, Poonam Karwal, and Lee Fermo weeded the once-tilled gardens at Faith United Methodist Church and prepped two gardens for planting.
The North Haven Garden Club welcomed two new members to the Junior Gardeners Club in Mackenzie and Logan, who worked really hard while planting the gardens. They even stayed longer than the hour-long program to continue planting. The group planted cucumbers, zucchini, summer squash, two varieties of beans, peppers, two varieties of eggplant, three varieties of tomatoes, lettuce, parsley, basil, and cilantro.
Then on June 8, the North Haven Garden Club weeded and planted the last garden with remaining veggies in more zucchini, butternut squash, peppers, basil, watermelon, cantaloupe, and pumpkins. One of the club’s original members, Eric Soder, was there to finish planting the gardens. The club also planted marigolds in all the gardens to help with pest control. Committee members who helped out were Golia, Marge Quinn, Adley, and Carmen Sealy.
North Haven Garden Club Committee members are looking forward to welcoming back past members to join the group for a fun season of gardening.
