On May 23, North Haven First Selectman Michael Freda endorsed State Representative Dave Yaccarino for the 87th Assembly District covering North Haven. A nominating convention was held at North Haven Republican Town Committee headquarters, where Rep. Yaccarino accepted the unanimous party endorsement and expressed how honored and grateful he has been to receive such strong support since winning his first election in 2010.

A lifelong North Haven resident, Rep. Yaccarino raised his family in town and has owned DJ’s Cards and Comics for the past 33 years. At the legislature, he is a staunch voice on fiscal matters, public safety initiatives, and the necessary measures to make Connecticut more affordable for both residents and those facilitating job creation. In fact, as co-chair of the Bipartisan Bioscience Caucus, Rep. Yaccarino has been a leader in driving policy which has made Connecticut competitive in the fast-growing biotech industry.

“I am honored and humbled to have First Selectman Mike Freda’s endorsement and support. I cherish our united effort to do the most good for the most people. Throughout the years, I have proudly advocated for North Haven, and it would be my privilege to continue fighting for the issues we most value: ensuring public safety by supporting our law enforcement and fire service, funding public education, establishing needed resources for our veterans and seniors, and maintaining fiscal responsibility that provides a dynamic environment for families and businesses,” said Yaccarino, who currently serves as a ranking member of the legislature’s Executive and Legislative Nominations Committee.

Now that the legislative session is complete, Yaccarino is eager to engage with residents.

“I’m excited to hear from as many voters as I can and listen to their concerns and ideas. I am also looking forward to sharing what I have done for North Haven and the funding our town will receive this year,” Rep. Yaccarino said.
