Westbrook Lodge #1784 Elks to Host Annual Flag Day Ceremony*

Press Release from Westbrook Lodge Elks

The Westbrook Lodge Elks is proud to announce that its annual Flag Day ceremony is scheduled for Friday, June 14 at 5:30 p.m. The event will take place at the Westbrook Elks Lodge located at 142 Seaside Avenue in Westbrook and is open to both members and the guests of members.

The Flag Day ceremony is a long-standing tradition of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, honoring the American flag and celebrating its history. This year’s ceremony will include a presentation of the history of the flag, including patriotic music of the era.

“We invite the members and their guests to join us in celebrating our nation’s flag and reflecting on the values it represents,” said David Perregaux, exalted ruler of the Westbrook Lodge Elks. “This ceremony is a wonderful opportunity for us to come together and show our pride in our country.”

Local veterans, the Emblem Club, and community leaders will participate in the event. The Westbrook Lodge Elks encourages all attendees to arrive early, as seating is limited.

Flag Day, observed annually on June 14, commemorates the adoption of the Stars and Stripes as the official flag of the United States by the Continental Congress in 1777. The Elks organization has been celebrating Flag Day since 1907, reinforcing its commitment to patriotism and community service.

The Westbrook Lodge Elks, part of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, is dedicated to community service, charitable giving, and fostering patriotism. The lodge supports numerous local initiatives, including veterans' services, youth programs, and educational scholarships.
