Groundbreaking Ceremony Held for Region 4 Public Schools Athletics Fields Renovation Project
Press Release from Regional School District No. 4
On June 5, members of the Region 4 Board of Education, the Region 4 Fields Renovation Advisory Committee, and district and building administrators, gathered to commemorate the groundbreaking for the construction of the new competition field and track complex at Valley Regional High School (VRHS).
This groundbreaking marks the culmination of almost three years of work, including a study of field conditions, community and board engagement around the needs of the athletic program and the community and, ultimately, the development of a plan to improve the athletic facilities which was approved by voters at referendum on May 2, 2023 for $9,966,000 and will encompass the renovation of several athletic fields at VRHS and John Winthrop Middle School.
“I’m grateful for the support of our community to accomplish these improvements to our campus. I am so proud of VRHS and know that our new athletic complex will benefit our schools and towns for years to come,” said Brian J. White, superintendent of schools.
