Branford’s annual fireworks display celebrating the nation’s independence will launch at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, from the town dock at Branford Point, weather permitting. Rain date will be Sunday, June 23.

Members of the all-volunteer Branford Fireworks Committee want to be sure to get the word out on this year’s location, as construction work currently underway on the town dock may have some people wondering whether there is an alternate site, said committee member Dennis Flanigan.

“The fireworks will definitely be launching from Branford Point,” said Flanigan.

The committee has once again arranged for viewers to park and ride free shuttle buses to reach Branford Point. Shuttles will run beginning at 6 p.m. picking up and dropping off at the Cherry Hill commuter parking lot and at Branford High School, 185 East Main Street.

Once again, Branford’s high-flying, professional pyrotechnics show will be also visible from several points along the shore and around town, including Foote Park and Hammer Field. The show lasts approximately 25 minutes.

Branford Point is located on Branford Harbor at the end of Harbor Street at Parker Memorial Park. Viewers are encouraged to stop by the Fireworks Committee tent inside the park to make a donation of any amount to help support the cost of the annual fireworks event. Donations can also be made online at branfordct.myrec.com

The committee has arranged for three vendors to be on site at Branford Point including Shoreline Prime; SweetTreats Ice Cream; and A Parade of Novelties. The event’s entertainment sound will be provided by Dennis Nardella.

Branford Fireworks Committee members are appointed by the Board of Selectmen to oversee planning, production and fundraising efforts for the annual event. In addition to Flanigan, the members are chairman Jeff Vailette, Branford Parks and Recreation director Alex Palluzzi Jr., Parks and Rec assistant director Dale Izzo, Ray Ingraham, Ed Masotta, Nicole Cipriano and Annie Redman.

In case of inclement weather, Branford’s 2024 fireworks display will take place on Sunday, June 24. Weather update announcements will be posted branfordct.myrec.com
