05/15/2024 12:25 PMPress Release from Cindy Golia
On May 11, the North Haven Garden Club held its annual May Market Fundraiser at the North Haven Recreational Center. This was the third year the club chose to hold the May Market indoors, even though the sun was shining outside. Over the years, the weather was typically on the rainy and cold side more than the sunny and warm side on the day of this event. Of the 16 vendors who attended this year’s May Market, 14 stayed indoors, while two chose to be outside in the sunshine in front of the rec building.
The North Haven Garden Club had a large selection of hanging baskets, herbs, vegetable plants, tomatoes, and geraniums, along with a large selection of annuals for sale at this year’s May Market. There was also a large selection of homegrown perennials dug from the yards of members, along with donations for friend of the club, Leslie Casale.
The May Market was a big success with a steady flow of people coming to browse both the vendors’ tables and the club’s tables. The Key Club kids from North Haven High School were present to help customers with their purchases, and they also helped to take down and clean up the gym. Without the support of the community, the May Market would not be successful, and the North Haven Garden Club thanks everyone who helped make this year’s event go so smoothly.
