On April 17, several members of the North Haven Garden Club (NHGC) attended the Federated Garden Club’s 95th annual luncheon/meeting at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville. The featured guest speaker was Art Chadwick of Chadwick Orchids, which is located in Richmond, Virginia. Chadwick’s presentation was extremely fascinating, informative, and fun.

Chadwick founded Chadwick and Son Orchids Inc. in 1989 with his father, who has been growing orchards since 1943. Chadwick makes regular appearances on the Orchid Society speaker circuit and has been writing an orchid advice column for several newspapers since 2022. Chadwick is the author of The Classic Cattleyas, which is widely considered to be the definitive book on large-flowered Cattleya orchids. He has named Cattleya hybrids after the wives of the last five U.S. Presidents.

The NHGC members who attended the Federated Garden Club’s 95th annual luncheon/meeting were Cindy Adinolfi; Gerri Giordano, president of the NHGC; Cindy Golia, Brenda Howlett, Linda Lianos, Ellie Tessmer, and Karin Pyskaty, who is also president of the Federated Garden Clubs. Everyone had a great time visiting all the local vendors and enjoyed the event.
