The Ivoryton Library is Putting a New Best Foot Forward

Press Release from Ivoryton Library

Thanks to a generous donation from the former Ivoryton Congregational Church, the Ivoryton Library is renovating its front porch and steps.

A patron survey from last year identified easier access to the front of the library as a top priority. The renovation is set to begin immediately.

The renovation will include the narrowing and increasing of the number of steps to six from the existing four. The new steps will be lower and make access easier. They will be made of a composite material for better traction. A new, narrower iron railing will run parallel to the steps. The existing tall front double doors will be replaced with a single, wider door which will swing outward, as safety code dictates.

The Ivoryton Congregational Fund sold its building in 2017 and divided the money into six funds, managed by the Community Foundation of Middlesex County, to be used to benefit the community. One of these funds was donated to the Ivoryton Library to be used for capital improvements.

Extra funds from the donation will go toward the library’s new community room, which is now under construction in the basement.
