The Guilford Foundation and Guilford Savings Bank Disburse $11,500 to Local Non-profits

Press Release from The Guilford Foundation

The Guilford Foundation (TGF), in partnership with Guilford Savings Bank (GSB), proudly announces the disbursement of $11,500 to eight non-profits, marking the second round of 2024 sponsorship funding. This brings the total sponsorship funding for the year to $24,000. These awards support Guilford-serving organizations which organize events that raise funds or enhance visibility for their invaluable services.

The April recipients include Friends of the Guilford Free Library, Guilford A Better Chance, Guilford Art Center, Legacy Theatre, North Guilford Congregational Church, Soundview Family YMCA, The Guilford Fair Parade, and Women & Family Life Center. Sponsorship awards ranged from $500 to $2,500.

Liza Janssen Petra, executive director of TGF, expressed gratitude for the partnership with GSB.

“We are thankful for the generosity of GSB, who [provided] TGF and three other community foundations with $30,000 to allocate to non-profits serving Guilford residents seeking sponsorship funding,” Petra said. “It’s an honor to be trusted to make decisions that reflect positively on our two organizations and, most importantly, enrich the quality of life in our community.”

These sponsorship events serve as vital platforms for fundraising, brand building, and program enhancement for non-profit partners and have become cherished traditions within the community.

Petra emphasized the significance of the sponsored events.

“The events we choose to sponsor are iconic and appeal to a wide demographic in town,” said Petra. “We believe there is something for everyone: the all-age Guilford Fair Parade and North Guilford Country Fair, a youth triathlon program, the celebration of educational inclusivity through the Guilford ABC’s 50th anniversary weekend, or the SHEro event that recognizes women and girls who make a difference in our community.”

TGF reviews sponsorship applications three times a year. The first two deadlines have already passed. The final deadline for 2024 is set for Monday, July 15. To be eligible for sponsorship, organizations must be tax-exempt, provide programs or services directly benefiting the Guilford community, and align with the mission and values of both TGF and GSB.
