While investigating an assault that occurred in the Greens condominiums on March 29 around 10:30 p.m., officers were informed three individuals had fled on foot and one individual may be armed with a firearm.
Officers began to canvass the area and located and detained one female involved. The investigation determined 19-year-old Nyeja Bember was involved in the fight. She was charged with violating CGS 53a-182, Disorderly Conduct (2 Counts), and CGS 53a-181, Breach of Peace 2nd. She was later released and appeared in court on April 1.
While officers detained the female, two males continued to flee on foot. With the quick response of multiple Branford officers, one of the males was observed running into Junior’s Billiard Bar, where the male was apprehended inside without incident. Officers located a .45 caliber Ruger firearm on the male, who was identified as 19-year-old Nahshon Langs of New Haven.
Langs was charged with violating CGS 29-35(a)(1), Carrying a Pistol without a Permit, CGS 53a-182, Disorderly Conduct, CGS 53a-181, Breach of Peace 2nd and was released after posting a $25,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear at New Haven Court on April 9th, 2024.
With the assistance of East Haven Police Department (EHPD), the third individual was located and the investigation revealed he was not involved in the fight earlier in the evening.
BPD would like to thank EHPD for their assistance, and recognize the Branford officers involved in this incident for apprehending everyone involved and locating the firearm that was being carried without a permit.
