East Haven Man Arrested for Sexually Assaulting a Family Member
Press Release from East Haven Police Department
An arrest has been made in a 2023 sexual assault investigation that was referred to the East Haven Police Department by the Department of Children and Families (DCF) after information came to light during an unrelated DCF investigation.
In July 2023, Detective Monique Colbert, who led the investigation, was contacted by the DCF, which advised her that information regarding a sexual assault came to light during an unrelated investigation in which it was involved. During that investigation, it was revealed that the suspect, identified as Widman Vicuna-Rodriguez, 49, of East Haven, sexually assaulted a family member in 2017 during a family gathering at his East Haven home while the rest of the family was outside.
Detective Colbert applied for and was ultimately granted an arrest warrant for Vicuna-Rodriguez.
Vicuna-Rodriguez turned himself on March 22 and was charged with sexual assault in the fourth degree and risk of injury to a child.
Vicuna-Rodriguez was held on a $75,000 and faced a judge in New Haven court.
