On March 4, at approximately 10:35 p.m., the Clinton Police Department responded to a reported noise complaint in the parking lot of the Clinton Outlets located at 20 Killingworth Turnpike. The caller reported that a loud group of individuals in the parking lot were creating a disturbance after the outlets had closed for the evening.
Upon arrival, officers located seven adult males and three juveniles in the parking lot. One of the males, later identified as the victim, informed police that he had been kidnapped in New Rochelle, New York after being threatened with a firearm and was brought to Clinton by the other nine individuals on scene.
A police K-9 was requested to respond to assist with the search for evidence on scene. The police K-9 helped locate a black facsimile firearm that very closely resembled a real firearm in the woods next to where the individuals were standing. Also located on scene were a baseball bat, police-issued pepper spray, and ski masks.
Based on the investigation, six adults were arrested and charged with kidnapping in the first degree with a firearm, illegal use of a facsimile firearm, unlawful restraint in the first degree, robbery in the first degree, assault in the third degree, threatening in the second degree, conspiracy to commit a kidnapping in the first degree with a firearm, conspiracy to commit illegal use of a facsimile firearm, conspiracy to commit unlawful restraint in the first degree, robbery in the first degree, conspiracy to commit assault in the third degree, threatening in the second degree, and risk of injury to a child. All adults were held on a $250,000 bond.
The six adults who were arrested are Edgar Palencia Marroquin, 27, of Stamford; Keneth Munoz, 22 of Stamford; Dario Tavares, 20, of Port Chester, New York; Javier Ventura-Vasquez, 20, of Port Chester, New York; Dario Tavares, 20, of Port Chester, New York; Gerson Isaias Jimenez Mendoza, 19, of Port Chester, New York; and Justim Vargas, 19, of Port Chester, New York.
Additionally, three juveniles were arrested and charged with kidnapping in the first degree with a firearm, illegal use of a facsimile firearm, unlawful restraint in the first degree, robbery in the first degree, assault in the third degree, threatening in the second degree, conspiracy to commit kidnapping in the first degree with a firearm, conspiracy to commit illegal use of a facsimile firearm, conspiracy to commit unlawful restraint in the first degree, robbery in the first degree, conspiracy to commit assault in the third degree, and threatening in the second degree. All juveniles were remanded to the custody of the Bridgeport Juvenile Detention Center.
The victim was transported to the hospital for his injuries.
