Press Release from Branford Public Schools
The Branford Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Blaize Levitan as the next chief operating officer (COO) for Branford Public Schools (BPS).
Levitan brings with him over a decade of experience in project and financial management with educational and town agencies. Currently, Levitan serves as the COO of Greenwich Public Schools, a position he has held since 2022. His prior experience includes serving as assistant director of the Town of Greenwich Parks and Recreation Department, senior management analyst for the Town of Greenwich, and emergency management specialist for the University of Connecticut.
Levitan has proven his strength in systems thinking and organizational improvement throughout his career. With an expertise in capital planning, Levitan will be an asset to the district in working to develop a Master Facilities Plan and bringing to life the recently adopted Strategic Coherence Plan. His collaborative nature and understanding of project management and operational efficiency will continue to move the district in a positive direction. Levitan is described by colleagues as an innovative, reliable, and relationship-oriented leader who can shepherd positive change for his community.
“I’m incredibly excited to join [Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Christopher Tranberg] and Branford Public Schools,” Levitan said. “Branford is an innovative district offering a world-class education. With a new strategic plan and new leadership, this is an exciting time to be part of the BPS community.”
Levitan holds a BA in political science from the University of Connecticut and a MPA from the University of Connecticut, where he also obtained a graduate certificate in public financial management.
“Blaize will be an amazing addition to our leadership team and a tremendous asset to the Town of Branford,” Superintendent Tranberg said. “Blaize is not only a big-picture thinker, he also sees the steps necessary to support and improve organizational coherence and effectiveness. It is clear he does this by building strong teams, approaching his work with positivity and remembering that students are at the center of our work. We look forward to welcoming Blaize to Branford toward the end of April.”
