North Haven Garden Club Presents Donations to Community Services and Children’s Library
Press release from Cindy Golia
On Jan. 11, North Haven Garden Club (NHGC) Scarecrow Committee co-chairs Maria Yankura and Dianna Ramadei, along with Treasurer Cindy Golia, presented a check to Carla Picard from North Haven Community Services and Emily Jenkins, director of the North Haven Library Children's Department. The funds donated were the result of the North Haven Garden Club’s annual Scarecrow Contest, with donations coming from local businesses and registration fees collected from the contest. Without the support of the North Haven community, this would not have been such a successful fundraising effort.
The NHGC’s annual Scarecrow Contest is open to all businesses, civic organizations, families, individuals, teens, tweens, and tots. This year, the NHGC added a pumpkin decorating contest in which over 25 pumpkins were entered. The club also held its Halloween Parade through the scarecrows with club members handing out candy.
Project chairs Maria Yankura and Diana Ramadei and their crow crew did a fantastic job on the 2023 contest. Look for the crow crew at the 2024 Scarecrow Contest.
