Press release from Lower Connecticut Valley Branch of AAUW

The Lower Connecticut Valley Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) recently presented its educational grants for 2023-’24. The grant recipients, who include Aleia Hayes of Clinton, spoke at the AAUW’s January meeting about how they are continuing to advance their career plans with the aid of these monetary grants.

The yearly scholarships are awarded to adult women from Middlesex and New London counties who are chosen for their outstanding academic records, demonstrated financial need, and their plans to attain their educational goals. Money for the grants is raised at an annual book author luncheon and other events.

Hayes was one of the AAUW’s educational grant recipients for 2023-’24. Hayes was joined in receiving this distinction by Jessica Sponheimer and Jessica Wood of East Lyme, Tajeah Winston of Ledyard, Talia Hincks of Middle Haddam, and Taylor Roy of Waterford.
