Clinton to Celebrate Mardi Gras Feb. 9
Looking for a fun way to kick the winter blues? Join the Clinton Placemakers as they host a Mardi Gras celebration at Town Hall on Friday, Feb. 9, from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Tickets are available to those 21 and older for $25 a person.
The Mardi Gras celebration will feature Kingcake, live music, and dancing. Attendees can also bring their own food and drinks as well. Tickets cost $25 per person and can be purchased via Venmo @clintonchamberofcommerce or by contacting the Clinton Chamber of Commerce. The event is for those 21 and older. Hidek said that only a limited number of tickets will be served and encouraged people to act quickly.
“It’ll be a lot of fun, but we’re only selling a limited number of tickets, so act early,” event organizer Lynn Hidek said.
“It’s a great event to call your friends and come on down. The music will really get people dancing,” Hidek said. The live music will be provided by the band River City Slim and the Zydeco Hogs, who Hidek called “spectacular.”
Hidek said the idea for the event stemmed from a desire to do a winter event for the town as organizers noted the gap in community activity from the holiday season until the warmer months. In 2023, the town tried to do an outdoor bonfire event, but the weather didn’t cooperate. Instead, Hidek said the organizers decided to focus on something that wouldn’t be weather-dependent but would still be fun.
“We wanted to do something during the winter when there isn’t a lot going on. We wanted to do something that everyone would find fun,” Hidek said.
Hidek noted that the event has been organized by the Clinton Placemakers which she described as “a group of people who get together to try and enhance living in Clinton.”
The group is responsible for initiatives like the International Food and Beer Festival as well as the anchor designs that became popular this winter. Hidek said the money raised from the Mardi Gras event will be used as seed money to expand those events and other Placemakers initiatives.
