Education Budget Heads to Public Forum
The Guilford Board of Education (BOE) will hold public forums to gather input on the 2024-'25 education budget. The forums are set for Monday, Jan. 22, and Tuesday, Jan. 23, both beginning at 7:30 p.m. and held in the library at Guilford High School, 605 New England Road.
The BOE is beginning the process of developing its budget for the next fiscal year. A proposed budget draft reflects an increase of 5.46% over the 2023-'24 budget, which, according to a Budget Transmittal Letter prepared by Guilford Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Paul Freeman, is similar to requests from the previous two years.
The 2024-'25 BOE budget request is expected to be presented to the Board of Finance on Thursday, Feb. 15, and public hearings and workshops will follow.
An annual budget meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 2, and a tentative referendum date of April 16 has been set.
