Press release from East Haven Police Department

On Jan. 3 at approximately 11:28 a.m., East Haven Police Department officers were dispatched to Snipes at 684 Foxon Road for the report of a shoplifting. A broadcast of the suspects and the vehicle they fled in was provided to responding units.

Detectives Jon Trinh and Fred Sego were in the area and located the suspect vehicle that had pulled onto the shoulder of Bradley Street by Bellman Street. At this time, Sergeant John Finnimore and officers Dean Bibens and Anthony Fiorillo converged on the suspect vehicle, attempting a motor vehicle stop.

The operator, later identified as Nelson Vidro, 46, of Hotchkiss Place in Torrington, immediately reversed and slammed into Sergeant Finnimore’s cruiser. Officers Bibens and Fiorillo then boxed in Vidro, at which time he continued ramming cruisers while attempting to flee. With the assistance of detectives Sego and Trinh, both Vidro and his passenger, Nadine Inorio, 37, of Country Day Hill Drive in West Haven, were taken into custody.

Vidro was charged with conspiracy to commit larceny in the fifth degree, interfering with an officer, assault on police, reckless endangerment in the first degree, possession of drug paraphernalia, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, failure to carry insurance card, reckless driving, failure to obey officer signal, and operating with a suspended license.

At the time of arrest, Vidro currently had 18 arrest warrants issued from various police agencies and was held on a $100,000 dollar bond for the on-site arrest. He appeared in court on Jan. 4 in New Haven.

Inorio was charged with larceny in the fifth degree, interfering with an officer, and conspiracy to commit larceny.

Inorio was held on a $2,500 surety bond and appeared in court on Jan. 4 in New Haven.
